
The Kerala government is ready to introduce “Suchitwa Keralam” ranking for sorting local self -governing bodies based on their success in waste management and cleanliness standards. Local authorities will be evaluated on nine main factors of waste management and 22 indices in a process that will be held in four stages since this month. The evaluation process is expected to be completed by the next month.
The final ranking will be determined by the assessment of local authorities according to the evaluation factors, including the cover of doors’ collection of not biodegradable waste and collection of user fees, collection systems for all types of waste, establishment of material collection and resource recovery equipment, liquid sanitary waste, enforcement, activity, purity and green activities.
This is the first time that sorting is carried out for local authorities based on cleanliness. In the first phase, the local bodies should record information on the online platform in August. The data verification will be performed as part of the second phase in September. Teams of special evaluation evaluate the claims through field visits. The third phase will be the control of the district level. Then the final order of the committee will be published and awards will be awarded. For gram Panchayats, municipalities and corporations, separate order lists will be published.
