Chief District and Sessions Judge BS Bharati said that engaging in sports activities and regular exercise is one of the best ways to reduce the stress that police officers have to deal with on a daily basis.
Inaugurating the annual sports meet at the DAR Parade Grounds in Dharwad, the district police on Thursday said that sports infuse new energy and joy into the mind every day.
Ms. Bharati said that sports always motivates people and urged everyone to imbibe the sportsmanship spirit of accepting victory and defeat at every stage of life. She emphasized the need to accept defeat with the same mindset as celebrating victory.
Since police officers spend most of their day performing department duties and related work, it is important that they provide some mental relief by engaging in sports and other activities.
Earlier, Team Bhadra led by Sub-Inspector Girish Junjuri, Team Tunga led by Sub-Inspector Nirmala Jambagi, Team Krishna led by Sub-Inspector Praveen Koti, Team Varada led by Sub-Inspector Abhijeet, Team Kaveri led by Sub-Inspector Netravati Pawar who led Team Sub-Inspector U Kamala, led by Sub-Inspector Shalm-Inspect march-past.
Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya delivered the opening remarks. Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharwad DAR DS Dhanagar, Additional Superintendent of Police Shivanand Katagi, Deputy Superintendent of Dharwad Rural Sub-Division Vinod Muktedar and others were present.
