The Supreme Court noted on Wednesday (May 14, 2025) that states and local authorities must protect the fundamental rights of pedestrians to clean and not limit the sidewalks.
“This court acknowledged that the right of pedestrians to the use of sidewalks is guaranteed under Article 21 (the right to life and dignity) of the constitution. The right to sidewalks that are unconstripated is a necessary characteristic,” said the judges’ bench and Ujjjal Buyan said.
The Court ordered states and trade unions to create instructions to ensure proper sidewalks for pedestrians who call it their constitutional law.

The bench has heard a case of delay in carrying out the cashless system for the treatment of the victims of traffic accidents. The court said the absence of sidewalks contributed to traffic accidents because it forced pedestrians to walk on the roads, which makes them vulnerable to risks.
“It is necessary to have proper sidewalks for citizens. They should be such that they are accessible to persons with disabilities and the elimination of interventions is mandatory,” the court said.
In an earlier hearing in the case of the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court asked whether the government was actually working on the well -being of an ordinary person by building huge highways without providing any equipment for emergency medical care for road accident victims.
“Can you be so occasional? Don’t you think so seriously with this provision? The justice of the eye asked the center. The “golden hour” is 60 minutes after a traumatic injury, during which there is the highest probability of preventing death by providing rapid medical care.
In January in January, the Supreme Court ordered the center to immediately create a system of non -cash medical treatment of road accident victims during the golden hour, when their loved ones and expensive are not nearby and may not be someone who would help them pay critical care.
