ICAR – Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) organizes the National Symposium on “Recent Trends in Omics in Plant Biology” from 20 to 22 May at its headquarters in Kozhikode.
The event is organized by bioinformatics and integrative genomic facilities of the institute with financial assistance of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology.
The symposium is expected to combine scientists, academics, research scholars and industry representatives from all over the country to manifest rapidly developing areas of OMICS technology and their applications in science and agriculture.
It will include plenary lectures of leading experts, presentations of technical papers and panel discussions covering the spectrum of topics. These include genomics, transcription, proteomics, metabolomics and bioinformatics. Sessions will also explore the technology of editing genome, garden computer science and the role of artificial intelligence and computing tools in developing plant research and sustainable agriculture.
The event is open to scientists, faculty members, postgraduate and doctoral scientists and professionals from Agri-Biotech and bioinformatic industry.
The participants are obliged to register through the official website of the Institute. The last date of registration for the symposium is 12 May.
The Institute also organizes a seminar before the Symposium on May 20 to provide practical training in OMICS tools and techniques of data analysis in transcriptomy, computational metagenomics, wide genome association studies and machine learning. Separate registration for the seminar before the symposium will take place.
For further information, participants can contact the organizational committee at 0495-2731410 or visit the official IISR website –
