The Southwest Railway (SWR) has addressed more than two women in the “Meri Saheli” operation “this year, a devoted initiative to ensure the safety and comfort of women who travel themselves.
The initiative that started in November 2020 Indian Railways has focused on providing assistance from the time when they are on board to complete the journey.
According to the main public contact official in SWR, Manjunath Kanamadi, RPF teams interact with 2,08,869 passengers this year 4,869 trains and secured safer and safer travel.
Currently, 250 Meri Saheli teams, which consist exclusively of female RPF staff, cover around 500 trains a day and help almost 13,000 solo female travelers. “In SWR alone, 10 specialized teams are actively involved in the project, consisting of 25 employees,” added Mr. Kanamadi.

Meri Saheli’s official said, “We help passengers directly from safe arrival and liberation to offer support throughout the journey. Many women, especially the first passengers or those traveling with children feel vulnerable at crowded stations or long distances. The most important thing is that passengers feel safer and old during travel.
Another RPF official said the initiative has significantly improved confidence between passengers. “Previously, many women who have been concerned about long -distance safety.
Feedback
According to officials, feedback forms are collected at the end of the trips to assess the effectiveness of the initiative and identify areas for improvement. SWR officials said the answers were tremendously positive, with passengers emphasizing the sense of security and self -confidence that the program brought their travel experience.
The “Meri Saheli operation” has proven to be one of the most successful women’s safety initiatives. We were able to create a safe and supportive environment through proactive involvement, early guidance and devoted presence of our women RPF staff.
