
The Swachh Bharat (Urban) 2.0 mission under the Ministry of Housing and urban affairs, the Indian government, reviewed the activities of fixed waste management in the limch Bruht Bengalur Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Friday.
BINAY JHA, Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 visited the office of Bengalura Limited (BSWML) to receive detailed briefing on contemporary strategies and city plans. K. Harish Kumar, CEO of BSWML, presented a comprehensive overview of BBMP operations, including daily waste collection mechanisms, infrastructure projects and technology.
Currently, Bengaluru generates approximately 6,500 metric tons of waste a day, which segregates on the source and is collected through car tips equipped with RFID monitoring. Marshals use mobile applications for everyday participation and recovery, he said.
Strict penalties are selected for those that interpret the garbage on the roads, especially during night patrols. There are awareness of household encouragement to pass on wasting directly to automobile blows, Mr. Kumar informed.
Mr. Jha also visited the landfill and units for the processing of KC Devanahalli. He offered proposals to strengthen public education and communication to increase waste segregation for source and reduce the volume of mixed waste to landfills.
He also looked at the private processing plant in the construction of Mukka Proteins Ltd., developing with the investment of 150 Crore using international technology. The plant is expected to process 1,000 MT of waste a day.
