SVIMS, SPMVV offers NTR tributes

The 103rd birth anniversary of TDP founder and former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao was observed across Tirupati district on Thursday with fervor and fervor in the many institutions he founded and nurtured.
Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) Hospital in TTD, considered the brain child of NTR to provide super specialized treatment to the poor at affordable fees, observed ‘NTR Jayanti’ in a grand manner where its Director and Vice Chancellor Dr. RV Kumar decorated the former Chief Minister’s statue installed in the campus.
Dr. Kumar recalled that in 1986 NTR laid the foundation stone of SVIMS. The current Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during his earlier tenure in 2001 supported the initiative by setting up the Sri Venkateswara Pranadana Trust to mobilize funds for poor patients requiring costly surgeries.
“As many as 30,000 patients have benefited from free surgeries under Pranadanam with funds exceeding ₹150 crore donated by philanthropists,” said Dr. Kumar.
Similarly, SVIMS also reaped benefits by acquiring costly and advanced medical and diagnostic equipment from funds mobilized under another TTD initiative, the ‘Sri Balaji Arogya Varaprasadini’ programme.

Meanwhile, Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV), another institute founded by NTR to ensure women empowerment through education, also observed the day with Vice-Chancellor Uma Vennam, who along with Registrar R. Usha garlanded NTR’s statue at their campus. They paid rich tributes and said that NTR’s ideals, services and legacy will remain forever.
