New buildings to house the central medical center and other accommodation facilities to serve patients were formally inaugurated at the TTD Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) campus here on Wednesday.
Declaring the facilities open, TTD Chairman BR Naidu explained that the 37,000 sq ft three-storey building was constructed at a cost of ₹ 10.65 crore to house medical/general stores, cold storage units, offices and a conference hall to efficiently manage medical supplies.
Similarly, a rest house for patient attendants was given second and third floors at a cost of ₹ 4.40 crore to accommodate 300 attendants. People accompanying patients coming for treatment from distant places were provided with food and accommodation here.
The central laboratory system is under construction. Once completed, all laboratory facilities will be under one roof.
SVIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor RV Kumar said it is going to complete staff quarters, a central kitchen, 350 additional beds, five operating theatres, five ICUs and an advanced cancer care building with TTD support.
The Chairman was accompanied by TTD Board Members Sadasiva Rao, Santha Ram and Naresh Kumar, Joint Managing Director V. Veerabrahmam, BIRRD Director G. Jagadish and TTD Chief Engineer TV Satyanarayana.
