Meeting with the parents of a young doctor who was raped and killed at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital 9. August 2024, the opposition leader in West Bengal’s Assembly of ADHIKARI called them to join the planned “Nabanna Abhiyan”.
After the meeting he spoke to journalists and Mr. Adhikari said they agreed to participate in the assembly.
The rally is referred to a year since the scary crime that brought people on the street of the city and demanded safety for women in public areas. Over the past 10 months, parents have participated in numerous protests looking for justice for their daughter, also referred to as Abhaya.
“In the next month I will make all efforts to make the movement successful. We will participate without any flags. The only thing we require is that we should not be humiliated,” said Mr. Adhikari. The BJP leader praised the difficult struggle that his parents opposed the state government.
“The victim of the RG hospital has been deprived of blood, not tears. The current ruling expenditure offers protection for rapists and torturers, so they must go. I will soon visit the victim’s parents and seek to organize this year’s march to the anniversary of the death that we will have without flag parties.” BJP leader said.
One person was arrested in January 2025 and sentenced to life periods. However, the victim’s parents were not satisfied with the outcome of the investigation with the result of the investigation and stated that both the state government and the Union government failed.
The parents of the late doctor turned to Calcutta High Court with questions about CBI investigation. Recently, parents’ advisor urged the court to allow them to access the crime scene.
