India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has reacted after two of his old social media posts resurfaced online following India’s triumph in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Screenshots of posts from the early years of his career began to circulate widely on social networks. One picture showed Yadav standing outside, which he later explained was the inauguration of a friend’s petrol pump. Another post from 2013 was captioned “Ahmedabad is calling”.

Talking about the viral posts, Yadav said he came to know about them only after the social media team members informed him that they were trending online.
“People were telling me that the photo was trending. Even the social media team mentioned it and sent it to me on WhatsApp,” said Yadav, recalling the moment he saw the pictures again.
Old photos are resurfacing online
Yadav explained that the photo of the petrol pump was from early in his career, around 2010 or 2011. At that time, he had gone to attend the inauguration of a friend’s petrol pump.
“When I saw it, I remembered it was from 2010 or 2011. My friend was inaugurating a gas station and I happened to be nearby, so I went there. That’s when the photo was taken,” he said.
The picture shows a young Yadav casually posing during the event. He has now re-emerged years later during a very different phase of his career as India’s T20 captain.
Another old post that was doing the rounds online was from 2013 when Yadav shared a photo with the caption “Ahmedabad is calling”.
“It took almost 15 years to get here”
Reflecting on the rediscovered posts, Yadav said the journey from those early days to his current position in Indian cricket has taken many years.
“Then there was another photo, the ‘Ahmedabad calling’ one, which was also spinning. It feels like a very big circle,” he said.
“It took a long time. It took almost 15 years to get here, but it’s been an amazing journey.”
Yadav rose steadily through domestic cricket and the IPL before establishing himself in the Indian team. His rise eventually led to him taking over the captaincy and T20 management India through a successful World Cup campaign.
The recovered posts have attracted attention as they show moments from the early stage of Yadav’s career, long before he became one of India’s most prominent T20 players.
