Jammu and Kashmir’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Monday (May 19, 2025) filed accusations against two persons in connection with the grenade attack on the Temple in Poonch on Monday. Including in Pakistan, which was in November 2023.
The indictment names Abdul Aziz, Hari Safed’s resident in Surandote, Poonch and Nazir Ahmed alias Naziroo aka ali Khan, a Pakistanian worker who also comes from the same village.
The grenade attack 15 November 2023, focused on the local temple. According to Sia Aziz, he took an attack according to the instructions of Ahmed, who currently operates from the whole border.
Investigators said that Ahmed exclumed to Pakistan in 2001 and then joined the forbidden Hezbul Mujahideen (HM) and later coped with the force of Jammu Kashmir Gastalvi (JKGF). “At the end of 2022, Nazir Ahmed resumed contact with his relative Aziz using encrypted applications for sending messages and numbers based on Pakistan,” said official Sia.
During this period, Ahmed is reportedly radicalized by Aziz and hired it in the HM/JKGF network. Reportedly, he also provided AZIZE hand grenades and detailed instructions to attack using encrypted communication.
“The investigation reveals a wider conspiracy from Pakistan sponsored Hzbul Mujahideena to destabilize the territory of the Union of Jamm and Kashmir,” Sia said in a statement. “The attack was designed to spread terror, stimulate municipal tensions and disrupted public order.”
The agency described the incident as part of the calculated efforts to call for fear between civilians and fuel riots in the region. The case is underlined by continuing concerns about cross -border terrorist networks and their influence on local recruits.
