The Supreme Court is scheduled for pronounced on Friday (August 22, 2025), its decision on the dose of provisional action reasons looking for a stay on their 11th August 2025, Suo Mot Directive requiring the Civic Offices in Delhi and four neighboring districts to capture all stray dogs and closing them in magicians within six weeks.
While they reserve a reason for judgment, a bench led by justice Vikram Nath, and also including justices Sandeep Mehta and NV Anjaria, it noted that local civic authorities did not fulfill their duty to solve the growing risks of public health that represent blude dogs.

On Thursday (August 21, 2025), another bench refused to urgently mention an animal law action that claimed that the municipal society in Delhi (MCD) continued with the announcement to round the stray dogs, even though the Top Court reserved the judgment.
The case of the Suo Mot, originally heard by the bench led by Judge JB Pardiwala, was later assigned to the chief judge of India Bravai on the bench with Judge Vikram Nathe. Assignment followed by an oral mention of 13 August 2025 by a lawyer who approved the CJI of 9 May 2024 ordered to order compassionate treatment of stray canines. In a rare administrative step, CJI withdrew the case from the bench of justice Pardiwal and assigned it to the three bench led by Judge Nah. The larger bench heard a matter of 14 August 2025 before reserving orders.

During the proceedings of the General Attorney General Tushar Mehta, who appeared on behalf of the Union government, he said that most of the deaths of dogs and rabies were involved in children and urged the court to create an immediate solution to what he described as the escalating public health crisis.
The head of the chapel of Kapil Sibal, who appeared for a non -governmental organization that cares for dogs, pushed to stay on some guidelines in August 11, 2025 and claimed that they violated the rules for contraception (ABC), 2023.
In their 11th August 2025, they ordered orders that rounded all stray dogs and kept them in reserved shelters, without re -release on the street to round all stray dogs to round all stray dogs into eight weeks. The authorities were also instructed to set up hiding with a capacity for at least 5,000 delusions within eight weeks.

The bench further emphasized that Delhi recorded up to 25.201 of dog biting in 2024 and stated that its instructions were issued in a greater public interest. At the same time, the order ordered the authorities to ensure that dogs in shelters are not even poorly treated or deprived of food and that vulnerable animals are located separately with access to veterinary care.
However, the directives have caused extensive outrage among animal rights, public actions and social organizations that argued that the region lacks enough facilities to suit eight vicious dogs. They warned that the extensive capture of so many animals could lead to logistics chaos and lead to actions of cruelty.
