“I love responsibility, I love the challenge.”
It was the words of Mohammed Siri when she asked how she feels that he was the leader of the Indian pace of attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumhrah during the Edgbaston test. Siraj and Bumrah have worked in Tandem for a long time, but it has always been the one who took home for his work. Siraj here and there was flashing moments of brilliance, but he should show that he could be the leader of the party himself.
This was until the first shift of the Edgbaston test. Pacer, who has reduced the polarizing figure in the last few months after the non -inspiring Australian tour. We all know how the story has gone to England since then when Pacer found himself from the champion trophies before the phenomenal IPL campaign saw him by comeback.
ENG vs Indian
The first test, however, was the dose of reality for Siřej in unforgivable conditions of England. He bowed well in the patches, but many thought he could do much more in Headingley. Then Edgbaston came and Bumrah was relaxed. Siraj is expected to remain one of the first names on the team of the Bumrah workload, but had to prove it.
And that’s exactly what he did early on the third day when he released Joe Root and then created a vicious van to release Ben Stokes. The match almost came out of Indian hands after Harry Brook and Jamie Smith placed a 303-run stand before the new ball came to play.
Akash Deep opened the door and Siraj passed his tail and ended with characters 6 for 70, what he was proud of.
“It’s incredible because I was waiting for a long time. I was well bowling, but I didn’t get goals. I have only four goals here, so getting six is very strange,” Siraj said. Courtesy: AP
Man with a plan
He came into the second test, seemed that Siraj had a plan. Indian pitchs were holders and seemed to not go out at all. This raised questions about Siraj and Co., especially with the fact that Bumrah is outside the mix.
Then Siraj took advantage of his experience and this time came up with a better plan for English dough. His line was more or less on the stumps and constantly written on the dough. Sunil Gavascar pointed out that Pacer was a man with a plan.
“Certainly, because obviously the questions that were asked after England won a test match that chased 370 in the fourth shift, so clearly asked the question of Indian pitch.
“The ejector must be a ball of real effort. It can’t be that you are banging it halfway down without actually appearing. It was a super ejector. And yes, I think trying to prove a point or two. He dropped out of bowling, or you won’t get a LBW decision, marginal decisions.
I don’t try too much, holding up the strengths
As a leader on the side of Siraj’s work, this time it was not experimenting and sticking to its strengths, and that’s exactly what happened. It has always been someone who is good when it brings the ball to the right hands and did exactly the same thing and stuck to the foundations.
On the slow goal, with the fact that it offers much, Siraj’s mantra was supposed to mix in the right areas and with discipline.
“The goal was very slow, but if it is responsible for leading the attack, I had to try too much and just a bowl in the right areas and a bowl with a discipline. My thinking was to keep it tight and not giving up,” he said.
While the game is far from finished, as well as the series, the performance of Siri comes at the right time for the Indian team, which will try to ensure victory and make it 1-1.
