Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced on Thursday that the Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavascar and veteran administrator Sharad Parwar would be honored by life -size statues at the entrance to the upcoming Criket Museum “MCA Sharad ParoCet Museum” at the WankHhede Stage.
The museum, which is to be inaugurated in the second half of August, will celebrate the rich cricket heritage in Mumbai and pays tribute to the characters that significantly contributed to his ascension as the Powerhouse of the Indian cricket. “At the entrance to the museum, visitors will be welcomed by the sculptures of Shri Sharada Pawar and cricket legends Sunil Gavascar, who remains one of the most famous sports characters in Mumbai and India,” MCA said in a statement.
Gavascar, one of the best opening doughs that the game recorded, said he was “deeply affected and honored” by the MCA decision. “I am deeply touched and honored that my cricket association for Mother (MCA) decided to have my statue at the entrance to the new MCA Sharad Museum at the Wankhede stadium,” he said. “I will forever grateful association in Mumbai Cricket for holding my hand when I took my first steps in the game and bcci for giving me the opportunity to spread wings and fulfill the dream of representing my country in sport. ”
The statue of Gavascar, said MCA, will serve as “a symbol of excellence and determination that will inspire aspirating young crickets for generations”.
Sharad Pawar, currently the Chief of the Nationalist Party of Congress (SP), worked in the highest administrative roles in cricket, including the President of MCA, BCCI and the International Cricket Council (ICC). The museum bearing its name is also a tribute to its long -term connection with a contribution to sport.
President MCA Ajinkya Naik said that the initiative was “a sincere tribute to the stalwarts cricket Bombai and testimony of the visionary guidance of Shri Sharad Pawwar”. He added: “The statue of Sri Sunil Gavascar, one of the largest cricket legends in India, will serve as a strong symbol of excellence and determination.
The museum will include a collection of rare and iconic memorbals donated by crickets in Mumbai and offers a absorbing sound -visual experience that captures cricket milestones and unforgettable moments of the city.
