The Indian legend Sunil Gavascar was honored in a special ceremony at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, where he inaugurated the newly devoted meeting room named after the German-“10000 Gavascar”. The room commemorates the historical performance of the legendary opening, which became the first batter in the history of the test, which scored 10,000 runs.
The ceremonial inauguration was attended by President BCCi Roger Binny, Vice President Rajeev Shukl and Secretary of Devyit Saikia, because the Council paid tribute to a huge contribution to Gavascar to the Indian cricket.
“Honor legends! India Great Sunil Gavascar inaugurates 10000 Gavascar-A meeting room, named in his honor and his iconic milestone-in BCCi HQ in Mumbai,” BCCi published on social media and shared a video of the event. In this, Gavascar was seen that he had signed a black and white photograph from his playing days-kamžik, who captured the nostalgia and heritage of a stormy career.
Gavascar, who spoke at the event, expressed sincere gratitude for recognition.
“MCA is my mother and Bcci is my father. Thank you very much. I really appreciate the opportunity that I have to be what I am, thanks to the Indian cricket. That’s a huge honor. I am very grateful to this honor for this honor.

Sunil Gavascar, who represented India between 1971 and 1987, is widely considered one of the greatest doughs in the history of the game. Gavascar, known for his peace of mind and technically healthy defense, stood high against the wildest pace of his era attacks without wearing a helmet. His courage, discipline and unrivaled concentrations made him a symbol of resistance in the Indian cricket.
He became the first player in the test history to exceed 10,000 cross -country brands and achieved activities during the 1987 Ahmedabad test against the archive rivals of Pakistan. To this day, it remains the third highest Indian runner in tests with 10 122 runs-Afters only Sachin Tendulkar (15 921) and Rahul Dravid (13 288). His sum of 34 test centuries has been a world record for almost two decades until Tendulkar exceeded him in 2005.
The tribute is part of the wider BCCI initiative in honor of the legends of the Indian cricket. Last week, Rajeev Shhukla revealed that the BCCI headquarters were named after the two largest icons of Indian crickets-Sunil Gavascar and Sachin Tendulkar.
“We are pleased with the inauguration of the newly devoted room Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavascar Room from @Bcci-A sincere honors two icons of the Indian cricket, @sachin_rt and #sunilgavascar.
