On Monday (May 5, 2025), the India Supreme Court ordered the CEO to the police director (DGP), Maharashtra to select a special investigation team (SIT) to explore the alleged death of Akshay Shinde, accused in a sexual attack by two kindergartens in Thane.
Bely M. TRIVEDI and PB VAALE ordered the State Department of Criminal Investigation (CID) to pass on case papers to the CEO (DGP) in two days.
In April, the state of Mahashtra appealed to the Supreme Court against the leadership of the Supreme Court in Mumbai to set up a net under the supervision of a joint police commissioner Lakhmi Gautam to explore the detention of custody.
Attorney General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the state, said he has no objection to the SIT institute, but the body of the probe should be created under the supervision of the DGP itself.
“Given the nature and severity of the accusations and concerns expressed by the High Court, we regulate the order to the extent to be Sit.

The High Court found gaps in the police claim that Shinde was killed in “retaliation” in September last year after trying to catch the weapon of one of the poses that accompanied him.
He came in April after Shinde’s parents approached the High Court and were looking for an independent investigation into their son’s death in police custody. A separate report on a highway investigation chose a hole in the version of the police that a 23 -year -old man died in retaliation. The inquiry report concerned forensic proceedings to face the police version.
The High Court ordered SIT under the supervision of Mr. Gautam to take the CID probe after finding out that the latter had not registered the case of Custodial Death despite repeated instructions. HC hit strongly, although Shinde’s parents express their unwillingness to continue in the case.
On Monday, the Top Court stated that parents could still approach a competent judge or a court of meetings if they had any complaints. The Supreme Court destroyed petitions of special holidays filed by the state Mahashtra.
