
Police in Chandigarh moved the request at the local court and tried to direct the wife of officer Haryana IPS Puran Kumar Amneet P Kumar to identify the body of her husband “for post -maortal proceedings”.
Puran Kumar (52), in 2001-IPS officer, reportedly died of suicide 7 October. His wife, head officer Ias Amneet P Kumar, refused to consent to Post Mort and Kremace until her requirements were met.
Amneet P Kumar demanded that the State DGP Shelves Kapur and Narendra Bijarniya be appointed in the company for allegedly establishing the suicide of her husband. The officer’s family is also looking for their arrest.

What said Chandigarh Court?
In the announcement issued by Puran Kumara, the Court said, “While the DSP/Members-IO police in Chandigarh moved the application and sought instructions to you (complainant) to identify the dead body of your deceased husband, namely Shri Y Puran Kumar, IPS in Pgimer, Chandigar.”
“You are therefore aimed to answer the above application (attached copy) in person or through the advisor on 15.10.2025, which the application will decide on merit,” the notification read.
The court will hear this matter tomorrow. “On October 14, 2025 under my hand and seal of this court,” he added.

“Suicide” case of Puran Kumar

The former superintendent Rohtak Police Narendra Bijarniya, who is also accused in this case, was transferred to Rohtak as the top police.
Police in Chandigarh filed a company based on the “final remark” of the deceased police officer. The police added accusations according to the law SC/ST on the basis of the appeal of the officer’s wife.

Police in Chandigarh said all the angles were thoroughly investigated by a special investigative team in the alleged Haryan suicide of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar in a fair, impartial and transparent way.
According to the PTI Police in Chandigarh, she also said that she was filed to the director of the postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh to carry out the posthumous advice of doctors, which includes ballistic, toxicology, forensic and fingerprint experts.

The Council was properly established by a PGimer for postmortal examination.
However, family members of the deceased did not apply for mortem proceedings, so it could not be done yet, the police officer said in the report submitted to the Pandjab State on Monday.
