
Member of Rajya Sabha and Filanthrop Sudha Murta received a hoax call that recently claimed that its mobile services would be disconnected due to abuse, in an effort to get “sensitive information” according to reports
Murty received a call at 9:40 in the morning 5th September, from a number that appeared as “Telecom Dept” when checked on the Trucaller, Murty’s complaint, filed with Cyber Police on 20 September, said news18.
The caller, who presents as an employee of the Ministry of Telecommunications, claimed that her mobile number was registered in January 2020 without linking it with her Aadhaar.
The caller also threatened that obscene videos were broadcast or accessible from her number and warned that its connection would be disconnected to 12:00, News18 said.
The individual, described as rude and using a false identity, has tried to obtain personal data from Murta, states that they quote police sources. Murty asked for legal steps against callers over threats and attempts to obtain sensitive data.
