New Delhi: There is no direct link between COVID-19 vaccination and cases of sudden death between adults in the country, the Ministry of Health said, quoted extensive studies conducted by the best Indian medical research.
Investigations of the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) and All-Indiths Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have identified the selection of lifestyle, existing health conditions and genetic factors as key contributors to these sudden deaths, the ministry said on Wednesday.
For some time, a narration of the Covid-19 vaccine with sudden, inexplicable deaths, especially in young adults, has been built. This made the national agencies to find out the scientific basis of these demands. The findings that are now published are striving to solve these concerns, provide clarity and reduce disinformation.
The Ministry of Health said both studies offer a more comprehensive understanding of sudden inexplicable deaths in young adults in India.
“It has also been revealed that COVID-19 vaccination does not increase the risk, while the role of basic health problems, genetic predispositions and risky lifestyle choices play a role in unexplained sudden deaths,” the ministry said.
The ministry stressed that scientists have strongly repeated that a statement connecting Covid vaccination with sudden deaths is false and misleading and not supported by a scientific consensus.

Such speculative claims that lack convincing evidence can undermine public confidence in vaccines that have saved millions of lives around the world during the pandemic. Unhappy reports could lead to the hesitation of the vaccine and adversely affect public health efforts.
Vaccines administered in India during the pandemic included Covishield, which developed Oxford/Astrazeneca, and Kavaxin Bharat Biotech.
COVID-19 cases in India have dropped and the active case dropped to 1,691 on Tuesday. Two deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, which this year brought the number of deaths to 144. The current spread in the country is associated with the omicron nb.1.8.1 and FF.7.
Deeper understanding
The Ministry of Health stated that the ICMR and the National Disease Control Center cooperate on understanding the causes of sudden unexplained death, especially in persons aged 18-45 years. Two different but complementary studies were performed to get this matter.
One study of the ICMR of the National Institute of Epidemiology was conducted from May to August 2023. There were 47 tertiary care hospitals across 19 states and the territory of the Union.

“She looked at the individuals who seemed to be health, but suddenly died from October 2021 to March 2023. The finding convincingly showed that the COVID-19 vaccination does not increase the risk of inexplicable sudden death in young adults,” the Ministry of Health said.
The second ongoing study is conducted by AIIMS in the new Dilli with financing and in cooperation with ICMR. Its aim is to determine the common causes of sudden deaths in young adults. The early analysis of the collected data strongly shows that the infarction of myocardial infarction) continues to be the primary cause of sudden death in this age group.
It is important that no fundamental changes have been observed compared to the data from previous years. In many such cases, genetic mutations have been identified as a potential cause.
The Government said that public health research remains determined to ensure the well -being of citizens.

Dr. Rajeev Jayadevan, former President of the Cochin Chapter of the Indian Medical Association, said that sudden deaths, albeit rare, occur due to several causes and not all of them come from a heart attack.
“Some younger adults have an electric or muscle problem in their hearts, often without previous symptoms. Such conditions can sometimes cause an abnormal rhythm that leads to cardiac arrest,” Jayadevan said. “Death may also occur as a result of stroke, overdose, pulmonary embolism or acute infection. The vaccine is pushed on the social media by conspiracy theorists and is a comfortable and believable story for the general public.”
He said that many people also confuse sudden death with Vitt, immune response with clots and low plates. Vitt is extremely rare, observed at doses of 1: 50 000 to 1: 100 000, occurs within the first few weeks of the vector vaccine Adenovirus and is rarely fatal. It does not occur a few months later.
