Sudalagunta Sugars owner agrees to pay ₹30 crore dues to farmers by November 30

The management of Sudalagunta Sugars Limited (SSL), which has been defunct for several years and allegedly involved in a loan scam, has finally agreed to pay outstanding dues of ₹30 crore to sugarcane growers in two installments till November 30, 2026.

District Collector S. Venkateswar and Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subbarayudu conducted an assessment meeting with SSL factory owner Jayaram Chowdary at the Collectorate in Tirupati on Monday. Sugarcane growers from Unit-1 at Srikalahasti and Unit-2 at Podalakur attended the meeting.

The Collector directed the officials concerned and SSL management to work together to ensure a permanent solution to the farmers’ problem. Knowing that the farmers had been waiting for a long time, he insisted that action be taken without further delay in payment of dues.

He clarified that a full schedule of fee payments should be submitted in writing, not verbal assurances. He ordered that the affidavit clearly state that the payment of the total fees will be completed within 60 days.

During the meeting, Mr. Jayaram Chowdary said that measures were being explored to mobilize the necessary funds – ₹ 15 crore initially, followed by another ₹ 15 crore. He assured that the payments would be made as soon as possible, by the end of November.

If the dues are not cleared within the stipulated period of 60 days, 50 acres of land in Nellore and unencumbered land in Srikalahasti will be sold and the proceeds will be used to clear the outstanding amounts, he said.

Promoter SSL said efforts were underway to secure funds through a sale once bank approvals were finalized as part of the next phase of the process. He also disclosed that an advance of ₹2 crore has already been paid to the bank.

Farmers participating in the meeting expressed their satisfaction that the district administration has taken the initiative to solve their problems.
