The Guntur District Police organized an ‘Open Day’ exhibition at the police hall on Thursday to inform students about the functioning of the department and its role in maintaining public safety.
The event organized as part of the Week of Police Martyrs was aimed at increasing students’ awareness of the service nature of the police.
Guntur District Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal, who participated in the programme, said that the main objective of the ‘Open Day’ was to inform the students about the services provided by the police to the society.
He explained that these programs help the young generation understand the day-to-day challenges faced by police personnel in maintaining law and order and provide them with an opportunity to see the weapons, tools and equipment used by the police.
The SP noted that such initiatives help build public confidence in the police and inspire students to see the police as a pillar of social services and victims. He noted that these interactions strengthen the bond between the police and communities while promoting discipline, courage and civic responsibility among the youth.
Students attending the event were able to see various exhibits showcasing modern police techniques and equipment, including body-worn cameras, CCTV surveillance units, riot control equipment and a locked house monitoring system used to prevent theft when residents are away.
