
Three students arrested after gambling on the online game platforms were arrested by the Police Hyderabad Cybercrime Police in connection with the fraud of “digital arrests”. The case came out after they cheated on a government employee of 6.5 GBP.
The defendants, all in the early 1920s, reportedly provided more than 40 bank accounts to cyber fraudsters in exchange for a commission, the officer said. “The scammers approached WhatsApp and agreed to help in washing funds after the loss of online betting,” the officer said.
The arrests were identified as K. Hemanth Reddy, 21, from Anumula in Nalgonda district, M. Yeswant Reddy, 21, from KambalApally Village and M. Tharun, 22, inhabitants of Karkhan in Secunderabad.
Their fraud came to light after a 57 -year -old government employee from Dhoolpet accepted a telephone call in January 2025 from someone who claimed to be a representative of the police commissioner. The caller was falsely accused of participating in the case of money washing 2 crore, claiming that his Aadhaar number was used to open a suspicious bank account.
Fake arrests, RBI announcements and the Supreme Court’s authorization were sent victims via WhatsApp. Under pressure, the victim was instructed to publish its bank data and transfer the means to prove its innocence. He believed that he was facing an immediate arrest, eventually ending up with a transfer of 6.5 ₹ Lakh. When the road stopped, he realized he was connected.
Police in the field of computer crime said that the main fraudsters used the Trio bank accounts to raise money from the victims through X -ray and NEFT transfers. They received a commission for each transaction.
