
A 23 -year -old Hyderabad student, who recently tried to order medicines online, was cheated on 2.25 ₹ Lakh.
According to sources, the student was looking for gums of nicotine gums, which cost about 5,000 ₹ for a box, 4 May. While browsing the Internet for wholesale medical suppliers, he encountered individuals offering medicines for wholesale prices. The student transferred 25,000 GBP for five boxes to a bank account provided by an individual.
The student became suspected after the order was not delivered the next day. The victim then contacted the seller to cancel the order and ask for a refund. During a voice call, WhatsApp with Scammer, a message was received on a student’s mobile phone containing a link to the APK file. Although the student was still involved, the student unintentionally clicked the link.
A moment later, the phone was flashing on the phone screen, indicating that 2 lakh was written off from the associated bank account. The student’s mother then received a phone call from the bank to verify the authenticity of a large transaction. The student immediately informed the bank that the transaction was unauthorized and made a complaint through the National Line for Assistance in Computer Crime 1930.
