The low student to senior faculty ratio at the Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University (SSUS) has come under the scanner.
An evaluation by a Syndicate subcommittee revealed that the ratio of low student numbers to high faculty is not financially viable for the university. The existing student-teacher ratio was found to be 1:7.95. There are 303 teachers for a total of 2,408 students with a total teacher-student ratio of 1:7.95. It was well below the generally recommended teacher-to-student ratio of between 1:15 and 1:20, she said.
