
A 20 -year -old student of engineering ended his life in his residence in Bahadurpally after allegedly faced long -term harassment over debts incurred through betting applications.
The deceased, identified as T. Ramakanth, the second year of B. Tech Student at Mallest Reddy University, was found dead in his room on Monday morning. His father, Thotapalli Thirupathi, a farmer, filed a complaint after the incident.
According to the complainant Ramakanth fought with financial pressure for several months. He informed his father on several occasions about the debts that arose through a betting application. Almost a month ago, Ramakanth told his father that he owed 34,000 GBP, which was paid by an individual named Gnaneshwar. However, Gnaneshwar continued to require interest payment.
Father also said that about three months ago Ramakanth had another debt of 10,000 GBP. Then the individuals associated with the debt reportedly entered his room and confiscated the notebook and mobile phone of their friend. 13th July, around 2 pm, Ramakanth again contacted his father and asked for money. The following morning, around 8:00, he made another call and said he was harassed to repay. Later he took a drastic step that day.
Ramakanth was moved to a private hospital in Bahadurpally, where he was declared dead. The case has been reserved and the investigation is underway.
