The new student initiative has brought the innovation and clarity of public transport in the capital of Kerala.
Keerthana Sara Kiran, a second year of computer science at the LBS Institute of Technology for Women, PoojAppura, developed a website called “Yaathhraakoot” (Yaathhraakoot.vercel.App) for the circular bus service Thiruvananthapuram Ksrtc.
The website, designed in just three weeks, has already earned attention, including the recognition of KB Minister Ganesh Kumar.
Mrs. Keerthana explains that the idea was born from a simple observation. While waiting for the Thampanoor Central Bus terminal to travel to his college, a native of Kottayam noticed that electric buses were displayed by routes codes. This triggered the idea of creating an available digital platform that could go through the city bus services to passengers, especially those who first visit the city.
The website that supports Malayalam, English and Hindi allows users to enter their on -board and target points to get complete information about available circular bus routes. When designing various routes segments, the platform also emphasizes key points along the route and color codes associated with each bus. Such opportunities would help passengers make informed travel decisions, stressed the beginning engineer.
He attributes his head of the MD Sumithra and LBS Center for Science and Technology M. Abdul Rahiman for his support that made her efforts.
With the support of the Minister, the Ministry of Transport promised financial support for hosting websites. Yet the college took on top of itself to perform the task. The website is currently live on the free host platform Vercel.
