The release from Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) near Mysur was intensified with regard to heavy rain in his basin in the district of Kodag.
According to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of the Mandya district, the drain from the reservoir on Monday was between 80,000 CUSECS to 1,20,000 CUSECS.
The drain from the tank, the level of which was 124.54 ft against the maximum tank level of 124.8 ft, was 31 550 CUSECS at 8 hours before it was raised to range between 50 000 cusecs and 80 000 cusecs within 10 hours
The authorities advised people living in low -laid areas to move to safer places along with their cattle. Officials of the Water Resources Department stated that the release of water from KRS can be further increased.
Authorities forbade people to go to river banks. They were forbidden to go to bridges, swim in rivers, or take selfies near the river.
Meanwhile, educational institutions in the Kodag district, which were closed on Monday, remain closed on Tuesday.
According to a statement on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner of Kodag announced a holiday for all Anganwadis, elementary schools, secondary schools and universities in front of the university with regard to Orange Alert.
On Tuesday, the authorities expect heavy rains accompanied by a strong wind in the Kodag district.
“Fill in the lakes”
Meanwhile, the Minister of Trade Unions for the Heavy Industry and the HD Kumaraswamy steel ordered representatives of the Commissioner Mandy in Kumar to take the necessary steps to fulfill the lakes in the district.
Following the media reports of increased water discharge from KRS after heavy rainfall in its basin on Monday in Kodag on Monday Mr. Kumaraswamy, who also represents Mandya in Lok Sabha, called the Commissioner by telephone from New Delhi.
According to the statement issued by Mr. Kumaraswamy’s office, the Minister of Trade unions ordered the Commissioner’s representative on the phone to immediately fill all the lakes in the Mandy district.
KRS reached its full level of the tank 124.8 ft at the beginning of this year and the instructions were issued to officials at the recent Diha session to ensure that the lakes in the district should be filled.
However, several farmers from different parts of the district complained that the lakes were not filled in their respective regions. The Minister of Trade unions therefore issued instructions by the Commissioner representatives to take the necessary steps in this respect.
