The Chikkamagalur police plunged into action on Tuesday to avoid unwanted incidents during heavy rains at tourist places and busy roads. They booked cases against tourists who climbed on a slippery rock surface to enjoy waterfalls, despite warning.
Chikkamagalur SP Vikram Amathe released a detailed advisory note visiting the district during heavy rains. He suggested that visitors avoid water bodies and be careful in driving vehicles in heavy rains. The officer sent his employees in popular destinations and busy roads to maintain vigil for tourists’ activities and ensure their security.
Mudigere Circle Police saw four youth, climbing on a rocky surface on Charmadi Ghat to reach the waterfall. The police prevented them from daring and reserving minor cases against them. The police ordered passengers to Charmadi Ghat to move without stopping the Ghat section. They also slapped the punishment for those who parked their vehicles on a narrow section against the rules. The police also placed the Ghat boards and said photography and videos were banned.
Police stopped a group of cyclists near Kaimary who were on the ride during the rain and told them about the risks they could face. SP deployed the police along the hills to avoid unwanted incidents.
SP also appealed to tourists to call 112 in case of emergency.
