The package of stray dogs caused confusion on the poultry farm in Madhur, Patla Chennikdal, Caragod, Kerala, early on Friday (June 20, 2025), killed around 50 chickens and ducks and influenced the livelihood of rural countryside in a small scale.
The attack, which occurred around 5.30 pm, became a poultry unit operated by Safwan of Madhu Kalakatta. Among the birds killed were six taps with a high reproductive value, each of which was worth almost 5,000 ₹.
The neighbors, when they heard the noise, rushed to the place and managed to leave the dogs away with the stick and save the remaining birds.
Safwan, who turned to breeding a life after an accident a few years ago, said that the suffered damage exceeds 50,000 GBP. “I fed birds and closed the farm the previous evening,” he said.
Once an electrician was, Safwan was seriously injured when handling the cutting machine during the power failure. The revival, which cost him around 25 lakh, let him continue his previous profession. He then founded the poultry farm to support his family, and was in the process of expanding to the hatchery with government help.
The locals were too concerned about the growing number of stray dog attacks in the region and demanded an effective government intervention.
