Stop Vaibhav Sooryavanshi age talk: GT assistant coach wants to end unwanted chatter

Is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Really 15? Well, this is a question Parthiv Patel hopes he never has to hear again as the Gujarat Titans assistant coach wanted to put an end to the chatter. The RR superstar helped his team enter Qualifier 2 with a stunning 29-ball 97 against SRH in the Eliminator.

The RR opener has scored 680 runs in 15 matches with a staggering strike rate of 242.86, leaving people wondering if he is just 15. After securing an IPL contract last season, Sooryavanshi’s father had to deny claims of age fraud, while others called a prodigy to be protected.

Patel said during the pre-match press conference that Sooryavanshi should be considered a phenomenal talent and age should not be associated with it.

The GT assistant coach also said that he hopes the RR opener will not cause them much trouble during Qualifier 2.

“The way he batted, it’s very good to see. We shouldn’t talk about his age. I think that’s something we have to stop. He was a phenomenal talent, just the way he played and it’s great to see him. From the opposition’s point of view, we just hope he doesn’t get one tomorrow,” Parthiv said.

WHAT SPECIAL PLANS FOR SOORYAVANSHI?

GT knows all about the havoc Sooryavanshi can wreak and scored an unbeaten 101 off 35 balls. But Parthiv decided not to make the mistake SRH did as he revealed that he has several plans lined up for the boy wonder.

“Sir, I’m not an announcer and I’m not sitting on the Star Sports pre-show. So I won’t be able to tell you what plans we’ve made. But I’m very happy with the way he’s batting.”

“Hopefully we’ll try to get him out soon. We have our plans like everyone else. We’ve seen the videos like everyone else. Hopefully we can make our plans happen.”

“But I won’t be able to say what our plans are. You will know on the spot,” said Parthiv.

Sooryavanshi scored 168 runs in three matches against GT, at an average of 56.
