BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday consoled the bereaved family of Uppal Mallaiah, who was recently killed in an alleged attack by Congress activists at Lingampally village in Nuthankal mandal of Suryapet district, and announced ₹5 lakh ex gratia to the family and his relatives a government post in future.
Accompanied by former Minister and Suryapet MLA G. Jagadish Reddy, MLC MC Koti Reddy, former MLAs G. Kishore Kumar, B. Bhikshamaiah and B. Mallaiah Yadav and former MP B. Lingaiah Yadav, he handed over ₹5 lakh as immediate financial assistance to the entire family and assured them from the party.
Later, he sought to find out whether the Congress had really delivered “miracles” in the last two years. If the Congress fulfilled all the 420 promises it had made, the people would themselves celebrate the government, he said, and alleged that the fear of setbacks had made Congress leaders resort to attacks and intimidation.
Mr. Rama Rao said BRS ruled the state for 10 years but never resorted to such violent politics. He warned that if attacks on BRS workers continued, the party would be forced to respond. Telangana, he said, never had a culture of political violence and such practice must end.
Despite Congress intimidation and attacks, BRS workers fought bravely and won nearly 50% of the Sarpanch and ward members seats in the Gram Panchayat elections, he said.
