The Chalmeda Anand Rao (CAIMS) Institute, a private medical college in Telangan Karimnagar, faces criticism from students and medical associations to suspend 64 MBBS trainees who protested against unpaid scholarships. Traineers who demanded justified payments for more than two months were suspended for a week of July 3, reportedly for blocking vehicles during protest on academic ground.
While the university claims that the event was based on the disciplinary committee findings, students claim that this is a retaliatory step aimed at silent disagreement. The suspension order issued on July 3rd said that “the following trainees of the Institute are suspended from their duties for one week with effect from 3 to 10 July. They must continue duties on July 11.” However, students claim that the administration continued to detain scholarships after suspension and now threatens the stricter customs plans after their return.
“If the protests are bad, why will the university fail to comply with the government order for the first time and do not cross our scholarships?” asked another trainee. Hindu attempts to achieve Sa Asaim, director of Caims, did not pay for the comment.
According to the Government Order 2023, MBBS trainees in Telangana, whether in government or private medical faculties are entitled to a monthly scholarship of 25,906 GBP. The revised order issued on June 28, 2025 further increased the scholarship to 29 792 GBP. However, CAIMS students say they are only paid for 2,000 GBP per month, contrary to these mandates.
This problem has now pointed out national attention. The All India Medical Association (Faima) wrote the President of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and urged immediate intervention. “There are 23 private medical faculties in Telangana, where trainees are deployed in associated hospitals. Despite repeated directives, most of these universities continue to pay insufficiently trainees. Some even collect 5,000 GBP per year as the so -called” ” Scholarship Fee “and then only pays 2,000 GBP,” Faima said.
The Association demanded an investigation into CAIMS events 1. He also urged the NMC to ensure that no trainee was denied a completion of completion or undergoes academic harassment for participation in peace protests.
