
Star Australia Batter Steve Smith passed around the legendary Indian dough Sachin Tendulkar after his brilliant half -century on the first day of the World Championship (WTC) against South Africa in Lord’s in London. Smith played Gutsy shifts 66 (112) to save Australia with early collapse and help them achieve 212 in their first shifts.
It was the second consecutive fifty or more score for Smith in the WTC final after winning the winning century match in 2023 against India in the last final. Australia also registered the dough with its seventh fifty plus scores in the ICC knockout stages, and Sachin Tendulkar left the list, which has six fifty fifty scores in ICC Knockouts.
Smith now has a second fifty fifty plus score in ICC Knockouts after Virat Kohli, who comfortably sits on top of the list with 11 scores. In 13 knockouts, Smith scored 650 runs on average 59.09 with two fifty and five half centuries.
During his shift, Smith also left Australian Warren Bardsley (575 runs) to register most of the test runs with a guest body in Lord’s. Smith has now accumulated 591 iconic lord runs out of ten shifts on average 59.10 with two hundred and three 1950s to his name.
His highest score at the venue came during Ashes in 2015, when he scored a beautiful 215 during the second test. His second century was in another victory during 2023.
Meanwhile, Smith created a key 79-Runa stand with Beau Webster (72 OFF 92) to save Australia on the 1st day of the WTC final against South Africa. The duo joined the fold at a score of 67/4 and their stand was finally broken when Smith at the first slip of Aiden Markram to Marco Jansen.
After his release, Webster carried shifts ahead of us and helped the team to achieve 212. They completed the rolling day to 43/4 with the Temba Bavuma (3*) and David Bedingham (8*) at the fold.
