New Delhi: Chief coach Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Stephen Fleming admitted that the team was not successful at the Auction of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL), but acknowledged that such results are part of the process. He took responsibility for the bad season of CSK and Fleming urged players to increase the level of performance. Four-Barra Harshala Patella and Folded knocking from Ishan Kishan and Kaminda Mendis helped Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to win five goals over CSK.
“The other teams have improved and that’s the meaning of the auction. But we just couldn’t fix it. So you take responsibility from top to bottom and then just ask a little more players,” Fleming said at a press conference after the match.
He pointed to a combination of injuries, lack of form and the unpredictable approach as key reasons for team fighting. Fleming also admitted that CSK could chase a solution that did not exist.
“It must be an area where we have to think and say that it wasn’t as good as what could be, or it didn’t work out as we wanted. A few key injuries, just a little form of form. And we really tried to nail the game plan, chop and change too much.
When Fleming thought about the latest CSK defeat, he said the game reflected their season as a whole. He was encouraged by the intention that shows the dough, but noted that the team played too tense, which prevented their ability to put pressure on opponents.

“The game is summarized in the season. I thought there was a better intention with the bat today, and that’s something we were looking for, we just relax. We were a little tense, so we didn’t put pressure on the pitch and the goal,” he added.
With this victory, SRH climbed to the eighth table of points with three victories and six losses, which concerned six points. Meanwhile, CSK remains at the bottom, with only two wins in nine matches and only four points for their name.
