Steel cutting for 2 ASTDS 70T Bollard tugs for Polestar Maritime Limited took place at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) on Friday (27 February 2026).
The event was presided over by Vinit Badani, Director, Polestar Maritime Limited, who initiated the cutting of the first steel in the presence of Harikrishnan S. (Operations Director), Harikumar A., Managing Director, Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited, Vice President Shiraz (Executive Director, Shipbuilding), along with other senior officials of Class I, CSL.
The 70-ton tugs have a length of 33 m, a beam of 12.2 m and a draft of 4.2 m. The vessels will be powered by two 1,838 kW main engines and 2.7 m propellers from Niigata IHI Power Systems Co. Ltd. These tugs will be built to designs by Robert Allan Ltd. CSL Group’s current order book consists of 17 ASD tugs and six green tugs.
