Former Defense Minister A. Giridhar suggested all states and key stakeholders to fully support the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) mission for energy saving initiatives.
Describing climate change as one of the gravest challenges facing humanity, Mr. Giridhar said at Tuesday’s event that Mission LiFE was not just a political program but a transformational movement aimed at securing the interests of the nation and future generations.
“LiFE’s mission is about turning mindful consumption into a mass movement,” he said, adding that it “connects environmental responsibility with economic growth and public well-being.”
Mr. Giridhar highlighted that effective implementation of the LiFE mission would significantly improve public health outcomes, reduce healthcare costs and create green jobs across sectors such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, eco-tourism and natural resource conservation.
The program supports switching to LED lighting, adopting public transport, cycling and carpooling, using CNG vehicles, expanding the use of renewable energy sources (solar and wind), saving water and electricity and installing energy-efficient appliances with BEE Star Ratings.
National Adviser (Media & Government Affairs) EESL A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy presided.
