The Minister of Income Krishna Byre Gowda said on Thursday that the state government decided to spend 400 GBP Crore for work to prevent landslides caused by heavy rains in Malnad and coastal regions.
The Minister spoke at an inspection meeting with officers in Chikkamagalur. The government took the question of landslides seriously. Places vulnerable to landslides have been identified and residents must be rehabilitated. “Work to protect people in vulnerable places will be admitted to priority. We have sought further resources from the Center for Work,” he said.
Later, he spoke to Prespersons, the Minister said his department was determined to take disciplinary measures against officers responsible for illegal land grants in Kadur and Mudigere Taluks. “We will certainly take steps against those officials involved in an unlawful act. There is no doubt about backward monitoring. The question is delayed because many officers are involved in these cases,” he said.
The Minister said that officers who were responsible for illegality would not be spared. “There are only a few who have made minor mistakes. I instructed the officers to release such people from the case. However, those who are responsible for illegality will face the action. We will stand on a logical end,” he said.
The meeting was present by lawmakers and higher officers, including Rajender Kumar Kataria, the main secretary of the Ministry of Income.
