State school students make up 96.7% of RGUKT admissions

Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday released the provisional selection list for admission to its six-year integrated B.Tech program for the academic year 2026-27. Admissions are going on in four university campuses at Nuzvid, RK Valley, Ongole and Srikakulam.

In a statement, RGUKT UG Admissions 2026-27 convenor S. Amarendra Kumar said the university received 44,104 applications, of which 25,406 were from government school students, 17,798 from private school students and 900 from other states. A total of 4,040 candidates have been preselected for admission, including 3,640 regular posts and 400 posts under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. The results of special categories will be announced separately.

Prof. Kumar said this year’s admissions reflect a strong presence of government school students. Of the selected candidates, 3,907 (96.7%) are from public schools and 133 (3.3%) are from private institutions. Girls make up 2,855 selected applicants (70.66%), boys 1,185 (29.33%).

Bavireddy Divya Teja Sri of ZP (Girls) High School, Kollur, in Bapatla district secured the highest score of 596 marks. Several other candidates scored 595 and 594, indicating intense competition for admission.

Reacting to the results, Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh said the high proportion of government school students among the shortlisted candidates reaffirmed RGUKT’s commitment to supporting rural talent and expanding access to quality higher education. He congratulated the selected students and wished them success in their studies.

Counseling will be held on June 19 and 20 at Nuzvid and RK Valley campuses, June 22 and 23 for Ongole campus admission in RK Valley and June 23 and 24 at Srikakulam campus. Classes in the new academic year will begin on July 1.

Selected candidates have been advised to attend the counseling with all the original certificates and other required documents as the admission is subject to verification.

RGUKT Chancellor K. Madhu Murthy and Vice Chancellor MLN Rao also congratulated the selected students and wished them a bright future.
