Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the Chalukya Utsav at Badami in Bagalkot district on Monday. The festival takes place after 10 years.
He said that he had announced in the state budget that the Chalukya Utsav would be held this year and that he was happy to start it as per the announcement.
This festival celebrates the historical heritage of Badami and will help develop it as a tourist attraction, he told reporters.
Responding to a query, he said the state government was determined to develop Badami, his former constituency.
“When I was MLA here, I started many development projects. I am happy that MLA Bhimsen Chimmankatti is continuing them,” he said.
“The tourism minister has authorized the construction of a road leading to Mena Basadi in Badami. Work on the project will begin soon. We hope to complete it before the end of our tenure,” he said.
The Chief Minister received public complaints and interacted with local leaders and officers. He laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Immadi Pulakeshi statue at the Immadi Pulakeshi circle in Badami.
Ministers Byrati Suresh and RB Thimmapur, Mr Chimmankatti, MLA Vijayananda Kashappanavar along with legislators from the district and local leaders were present.
