The Feminist Forum of Kerala demanded that the state government to submit a special petition of holiday (SLP) at the Supreme Court against the recent order of the High Court in Kerala, which alleviated by former Minister A. Nealohithadasan Nadar in the case of a sexual attack concerning the IFS Prakrithi Srivastava.
About 20 activists, including K. Ajith, CS Chandrica, Jayasree AK and Eliyamma Vijayan, pointing out that Mrs. Srivastava’s victory in 2004 and 2005 in court and meeting where Mr. Nadar was found guilty was an inspiration for working women in the state. Activists claim that they were assessed 20 years later because Mrs. Srivastava was late to file a complaint. “The fact that judges are still unable to understand that the courts that women must undergo to file a sexual harassment is a serious problem. It is still a denial of justice,” he says in a press release.
Activists also point to a similar complaint filed by IAS Najini net against Mr. Nadar years ago and supported by the female organization in the state. “This order is a failure for efforts spent to ensure the dignity and security of women in the state. It is a reflection of the patriarchal thinking of courts that accuse the survivors and liberate the perpetrators.
The state government was asked to submit SLPs to show its support to women in the state, and also gain confidence in the legal framework and court system of the country.
