
The Minister of Energy KJ George said that the state government will take the necessary measures to avoid human-slon conflicts in the Mallad region.
On Saturday, the Karnataka Development Program (KDP) in Chikkamagalur took chaired, the Minister said that there would be a meeting with higher forest department officers to discuss this matter.
George, who is also the Minister responsible for the Chikkamagalur district, said in response to the legislators who raised the matter at the meeting, he said that a comprehensive conflict plan was necessary because the neighboring Hassan and Shivamogga districts also face similar problems.
“The plan must include the renewal of elephant habitat, community involvement and renewing the elephant corridor,” he said.
MK Pranesh, Vice -Chairman of the Legislative Council, said many elephants from the Sakleshpur district from the Hassan district entered the Mudigere series in Chikkamagalur. They spread over three to four groups and wandered and worried the local public. He called on the Minister to organize a meeting in this matter in Bengalur.
CT Ravi, MLC, suggested that the renewal of elephants were one of the ways to solve the problem. If elephants had enough food in the woods, they did not enter human habitats.
The MLA for Mudigere Nayan Motamm pointed out the minister that the elephants from the neighboring Hassan caused problems in their constituency.
Mr. George, responding to the legislators, said the government would set up a camp in the Bhadra Wildlife division division to maintain captured elephants. In addition, the officers left elephants entering human habitats.
At the meeting were present MLA for Sringeri TD Raje Gowda and higher officers.
