Representative of the main Minister DK Shivakumar in the legislative assembly explained that there is currently no proposal to expand the Namma Metro in Bengalur to Doddaballapur. Mr. Shivakumar answered in writing to the question raised by Doddaballapur BJP MLA Dheraj Muniraj, he said “there is no proposal” to connect the city with the metro line from the International Kevegowda Airport.
He added, however, that 26 km of Yelahanka corridors via Rajanakunte to Doddaballapu was included in the provisional main plan. Corridors as part of a comprehensive mobility plan (stroke), said, are still checked.
The demand for the extension of the metro to the edge of Bengalur and neighboring districts is constantly growing, with several elected representatives. Shivakumar himself strongly advocates the metro connection with Bidadi and Canacapura and claims to increase industrial growth.
Similarly, the Minister of the Interior G. Parameshware pushed the network extension to Tumacur, while the Minister of Food and Civic Stock KH MuniyAppa represents Devanahali, where the state budget announced the extension of the airport.
Meanwhile, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is preparing a comprehensive feasibility study covering 197 km of new corridors. Officials said “Studies are conducted on eight key routes, including the extension of the airport to the Devanahali announced in the budget. The report will be submitted to the State Government for evaluation.”
Most of the new corridors are considered to take the metro beyond the city limits of Bengalur, with potential ties to Harohalli in Kanakapura Taluk, Bidadi in Bengaluru South District, Devanahalli in Bengalur in the countryside and tumacura.
