The Hyderabad Hari Chandana Dasari District Collector Chairms the Audit Meeting with officials to review the readiness on the National Deworming Day on Thursday.
Telangana is preparing to observe the National Deworming Day (NDD) 11 August with the aim of administering albendazole tablets (400 g) to almost 96 lakh children aged 1 to 19 years. The aim of the campaign is to eliminate helminth infections transmitted by soil (STH), which are commonly caused by parasitic worms found in contaminated soil.
Health officials said that uniform administration of albendazole throughout the state is the key to driving the spread of sth between children and adolescents. Deworming has been shown to reduce anemia, improves nutritional intake, reduces diseases related to worms, lower school absence and increases overall cognitive and physical performance.
According to the instructions, half of the tablet will be crushed and administered to children aged one to two, while one fully crushed tablet will be devoted to those who aged between two and three years. Children aged three to 19 will receive one chewing albendazol tablet. The distribution will be held in Anganwadi centers, government and private schools, universities, professional institutions and community sites to ensure the inclusion of extracurricular children.
To ensure that no child is omitted, the mop-up wheel is scheduled for those who are missing the initial dose.
The Hyderabad Hari Chandana Dasari collector chaired the meeting with officials on Thursday to review the readiness and call for a detailed action plan. The collector emphasized the need for 100% coverage, especially in children who have already treated and asked officials to pay special attention to their needs while driving.
