State Forest Service interns visit Auroville

A group of 64 State Forest Officer trainees from the Central Academy of State Forests visited Auroville recently as part of their in-service training programme.

The visit was held under the patronage of Jayanti S. Ravi, Secretary, Auroville Foundation and Additional Chief Secretary, Gujarat.

A team led by Viji Natarajan, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Coimbatore, was conducted by Auroville Foundation staff around the important ecological and cultural monuments of the township.

According to a press release, the main highlight of the visit was a tour of the Araynya forest where the trainees learned a lot about Auroville Green Service. Team members also gained hands-on knowledge of Auroville’s renowned environmental and reforestation initiatives.

The delegation also toured the town’s key landmarks, including the Matrimandir, and learned about the philosophical vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. The officers concluded their visit to the Sun Kitchen.
