
Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the projects in Chennai on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Chief Minister MK Stalin launched the Tamil Nadu Women Entrepreneur Empowerment Scheme (TWEES), designed by the MSME Ministry, which aims to encourage one million women to start entrepreneurship within five years.
During an event at the Secretariat on Wednesday, Mr. Stalin virtually opened welfare centers for construction workers and senior citizens, set up by the Department of Social Welfare and Skill Development. He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of three new ITIs to be built at a cost of ₹27 crore.
Mr. Stalin released Tiruchirappalli Master Plan 2045 and Thoothukudi Master Plan 2045. He also virtually inaugurated the medical infrastructure at various places across the state, built at a total cost of ₹167 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of storage units with a total capacity of 60,000 MT by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation at a total cost of ₹ 78 crore.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the infrastructure set up for the fisheries sector at various locations across the state at a total cost of ₹100 crore. He also laid the foundation for implementation of 13 new projects to be implemented at a total cost of ₹665 crore. He inaugurated three shooting floors at the Tamil Nadu MGR Government Film and Television Institute, set up at a cost of ₹39 crore.
Mr. Stalin laid the foundation for the Mangrove Conservation Center at Pichavaram in Cuddalore District, the International Migratory Bird Center at Marakkanam in Villupuram District of Tamil Nadu for sustainable use of ocean resources and blue economy and the Nilgiri Tahr Conservation Center in Coimbatore. He also presented the award to Dr. AJT Johnsingh for conservation to son of late veterinarian Vaidyanathan Krishnamurthy.
The Tamil Nadu government nationalized the works of late Periyarist V. Anaimuthu and writer Erode Tamilanban. The Chief Minister handed over the license fees to the family members of these scholars.
He has also published re-edited versions of 500 rare spiritual books of the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department.
At another event, Mr. Stalin handed over orders for allotment of TNHB housing to Thayammal Aravanan, Ponneelan alias Bhaktavasalan and historian AR Venkatachalapathy. He also published a translation of 73 works of BR Ambedkar from Marathi to Tamil.
In a post on social media, Mr. Stalin said his government had distributed 23.56 million pattas to beneficiaries during the last five years. He said his government has helped 8.66 lakh families in realizing their dream of owning a house.

Subramanian, PK Sekarbabu, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, CV Ganesan, TRB Rajaa; Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials were also present.
The state government in a press release issued on March 5, Thursday said that a total of 30 SIPCOT industrial estates have been constructed during the last five years. It said that 7,558 acres of land has been allotted for about 800 new industrial units.
