The main minister Tamil Nadu MK Stalin wrote the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister of Trade Union for Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who sought their personal intervention to protect the interest of farmers Manga in Tamil Nadu, who were seriously affected by falling prices for their production.
Mr. Stalin urged to ensure standards set by the Indian Food Safety and Standards (FSSAI) office after entering fruit orders for pulp and to reduce the GST for mango pulp from 12% to 5%. He also urged the assistance to farmers from mango implementing the market intervention (part of PM-Aasha).
This season, Mr. Stalin emphasized the high production of mango and pointed to a low price that seriously influenced Mango farmers in the state. The price for awarding public contracts for pulp fell by 5 ₹ per kg as a result of high production this year, he stressed.
Delegation Tamil Nadu led by the Minister of Food R. Sakkarapani is to call for the Minister of the Union on Wednesday in Nový Delhi and hand over the request of CM. The delegation would also include Tiruchi Siva and Kanimozhi and legislators D. Mathiazhagan and Y. Prakash.
Mango is grown in 1.46 lakh hectares and production is about 9.49 lakh MT in Tamil Nadu.
