The Chief Minister of MK Stalin practically inaugurated the “special libraries” on bus termini, government hospitals and collection in Vellore, RaniPet and Tirupattur districts.
Officials of the School Education Department said that public spaces with high tracks were selected to establish the facilities to get used to reading, especially among children and help them shorten the time on the screen. “The facility will work from 10:00 to 17:00 on all days, except Friday and public holidays,” said Kr Palani, official of the Velore, Hindu District Library.
In Vellore, special libraries were opened at the new bus terminal, Vellore Government Medical College Hospital and Government Taluk Hospital in Gudiyatham.
Collector Vellore VR Subbubulaxmi, Mayor of Sujath Anandakumar and elected representatives visited the library at the collection and bus terminal in the district.
“Most books are in Tamil.
Officials said the libraries were established on the ground floor of hospitals and collectors, so it is advisable to visit the facility for readers.
Each library has separate sections for women and children and exclusive newspapers and magazines, except for adequate sanitary facilities. Each of them has about 150-200 books in English and Tamilian about topics from history and politics to reference books for competing exams. It is planned to add a new book every month.
A full -time librarian was published in the libraries, which can accommodate about 20 visitors at the same time.
The facility was also inaugurated at the bus terminal in Arakkonam, government hospitals in Walaiah and tirupatura and collectors in Ranipetus and Tirupatura.
Ranipet has the highest number of libraries (71), followed by Vellore (53) and Tirupattur (34).
