Ciza Thomas, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Sree Sankaracharaya University of Sanskrit (SSUS), has directed the registrar to cancel all files approved by former VC KK Geethakumara after the notification issued by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to remove her from the post came into effect.
Dr. Geethakumary was removed with immediate effect by the governor, who is also the chancellor of state universities, through a notification issued on March 5. The order was reportedly issued around 4:00 p.m. The Save University Campaign Committee (SUCC) filed a complaint before Dr. Thomas, who claimed that around 40 files were approved by the former VC after the notification was issued.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Professor Geethakumary approved the files after the order to remove her from the post came into effect. Dr. Thomas asked Registrar Mothi George to investigate the complaint and initiate follow-up action. It was learned that the secretary submitted a report that the files were deleted by the former VC.
Professor Geethakumary said on Friday (March 27, 2026) that she came across the governor’s announcement on March 5 around 4:45 p.m. She added that there were backlogs and that she had cleared them by 6:45 p.m.
