The Secondary School Public Examinations (SSC) – 2026 began across the state on Monday (March 16, 2026). The examinations were conducted peacefully at all the examination centres, according to a press release from the Council of Secondary Schools.
Students with their eyes fixed on their books were seen during the last minute revision which took place between 9.30am and 12.45pm.
On the first day, 6,22,217 out of 6,29,109 registered candidates appeared for the exam, representing a participation percentage of 98.90%. A total of 6852 candidates were missing. The exams were conducted at 3,415 exam centers across the state.
According to a press release, the Board of Secondary Education has put in place a monitoring mechanism to ensure fair and smooth conduct of examinations. As part of these measures, a total of 1,753 center visits were conducted by various monitoring authorities including District Collectors, District Level Observers, District Educational Officers, ACGE, District Monitoring Coordinators, Flying Squads and other officials across the examination centers across the state.
It has been brought to the notice of the authorities that two invigilators in YSR Kadapa district, one invigilator in Anantapur district and one invigilator in Palnadu district have been found negligent in discharging their probationary duties. The matter has been taken seriously and strict action will be taken against the concerned invigilators in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures governing the conduct of examinations, the note said.
Exams will end on April 1.
