The number of escapes from Nepalese prisons, which was arrested by the Seema Bal (SSB) along the India-Border in the middle of the crisis in the Himalayan country, increased to 63 of 22 days earlier. The detainees include a woman, a higher government official said on Thursday (September 11, 2025).
The detainees were made along the borders of shared Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal with Nepal. The prisoner was detained in Kishanganji in Bihar and handed over to the police. At least two prisoners captured along the border of the West Bengal SSB were handed over to the Nepalese authorities by the Police of West Bengal, the official said. As soon as he was arrested, the SSB hand over the suspicious local police.
SSB, central armed police forces (CAPF), protects the border of 1,751 km with Nepal and 699 km of India-Bhutan border.
The prisoners were detained on the basis of a list of prisoners shared by the Armed forces of Nepal (APF) with their SSB counterparts.
Some of the detained prisoners claimed to be Indians, the official said.
“Because they have no documentary about them, we find their identity. They are said to have been convicted of crimes in Nepal and were imprisoned there in prison,” the official said.
Nepal and India share an open border, and the inhabitants of the neighboring country are allowed to enter documents and passport -based visas, such as a driving license and another government issued by the card.
The SSB and APF carried out a common patrol in several places, although the demise of the walk was recovered in the neighboring country. SSB opened hints at border control points to help the stressed people on both sides of the border.
